Jennifer Zane's Top 10- Favorite TV shows of my youth-
My kids watch really BAD cartoons on TV. I don't even
understand the premise behind them. It's not like the good ol' days and Wile E.
Coyote and the Roadrunner. After school, I used to take about an hour and sit
in front of the TV (black and white with no remote) with my can of Pringles.
Here are my favorite shows from the 70's and 80's:
10. The Brady Bunch- I wanted to be Cindy Brady oh so
desperately. Her hair! The blond pigtails that were perfect. I had/have dark
hair that is naturally curly, which means no style. My hair constantly looks
like I went through a wind tunnel so I dreamt of her cute little do.
9. Tom and Jerry- The best cartoons ever, especially the
really old ones that harken to post WWII or the late 60's ones in space. These
cartoons are so good, they don't need words.
8. Bugs Bunny- Talk about wit! I mean, Sir Loin of Beef?
7. The Three Stooges- Sheer perfection.
6. The Addams Family- I always wanted a Thing in my house.
Imagine how much could get done if you had an extra hand? Literally!
5. The Munsters- This was obviously an attempt to extend the
fame of the Addams Family, but it worked. I loved how there was a secret lair
under the stairs and that Grandpa was a complete nut job. And, of course,
Marilyn had the perfect hair (see #1)
4. Gilligan's Island - I go camping
for one night with the family and I look like I got lost in the wild for a
week. Ginger is still wearing the 60s version of Spanx and her hair is teased
into a perfect poof. (again, see #1). Remember Lovey Howell? Yeah, well,
because of her, I call my kids Lovey.
3. The Dukes Of Hazzard- Friday nights, oh was Bo Duke a
dream!
2. Dallas- It came on right after the Dukes Of Hazzard. I
was in love with Bobby Ewing but I wanted to be Lucy. I mean, the hair! Blond
and in these cascading waves of sheer perfection (are you seeing a theme with
wanting blond, gorgeous locks!?)
1. Scooby Doo- Seriously, this is the best. It transcends
time. The vintage 60's/70's episodes with the Three Stooges and the Harlem
Globetrotters are classic. Even today, my kids will sit through these.
Do you have similar favorites? Are there different shows you
remember?

cooperating. Once she learns the truth about him--that he's really Jake
Griffin--she realizes that his sense of honor and duty will get him killed.

Jennifer Zane has lived all over the country--from Georgia to Maryland, New York to Colorado. including an exciting five years in Montana. Her time in Big Sky country was the basis for this book. When she's not writing, she savors the insanity of raising two boys, is figuring out how many meals she can make with a pressure cooker, and teaches a pretty mean karate class. She currently lives with her family in Colorado.
I love to hear from readers!
